Nervus Rex was an American new wave pop band from New York City, known for their uptempo pop sound. The group formed after Lauren Agnelli answered an ad in The Village Voice and met Shaun Brighton. In 1978, they released their first single "Don't Look" b/w "Love Affair". Two years later, they signed with Dreamland Records and released their self-titled debut album Nervus Rex (1980). Despite playing shows with notable acts like The Pretenders and Richard Hell and the Voidoids, the band disbanded in the early 1980s due to a lack of commercial success. Post-Nervus Rex, Agnelli joined the Washington Squares and later pursued a solo career, while Brighton formed the Puppets, achieving chart success with "The Way of Life", which reached number 3 on the Billboard Dance Chart.
