Kenneth Wayne Paul Tobias, known professionally as Ken Tobias, was a Canadian singer-songwriter born on July 25, 1945, in Saint John, New Brunswick. He began his musical journey in the early 1960s, performing at local venues and joining bands like the Ramblers and the Badd Cedes. In 1970, Tobias penned "Stay Awhile", which became a soft rock classic, peaking at Number 1 in Canada and number 7 on the US Billboard charts. He released several solo albums, including Dream #2 (1972), The Magic's In The Music (1973), and Siren Spell (1976). Tobias received multiple awards, including five Socan Classics Awards for 100,000 airplays of given songs. He toured Europe in 1978 and collaborated on the soundtrack for the Italian spaghetti Western Sella d'Argento. Tobias died from brain cancer in Saint John on October 2, 2024, at the age of 79.
