Ninetynine, an Australian indie band based in Melbourne, was founded by Laura MacFarlane in 1996 as a solo project. The first album, 99, was recorded with MacFarlane playing all the instruments. Shortly after, she assembled a band featuring Cameron Potts and Rhonda Simmonds (who later left), along with Iain McIntyre. Other former members include Michelle Mansford, Amy Clarke, and Meg Butler, who joined in 2006. The band's discography includes notable releases such as 767 (1998), 180 Degrees (2000), and Anatomy of Distance (2002). Their music, described as art-pop with elements of indie rock, post-punk, and power pop, often incorporates experimental elements like unusual time signatures. Ninetynine has toured extensively in Australia and internationally, including performances in New Zealand, Japan, the UK, Europe, and North America. The band's albums are primarily released through their own label, Patsy Records.
