Eileen McGann, born in Scarborough, Ontario, Canada, is a folk singer-songwriter known for her Celtic and traditional music. She began performing Irish and Scottish traditional music as a teenager in Toronto. Her professional career started while attending university. McGann released her debut album Elements in 1986, which included seven of her own songs and garnered attention in both North America and Great Britain. Subsequent albums include Turn It Around (1991), hailed by the Boston Globe as one of the top albums of the year. In 2001, her album Beyond The Storm received a Juno Award nomination for Best Roots or Traditional Album – Solo. McGann has released seven solo albums in total, all under her independent label Dragonwing Music.
