Strasse, a Swedish new wave band, was formed in 1978 in Gothenburg by singer Russ Ryden and drummer Kaj Zack. The group released their debut album Följa John in 1981, with production assistance from both Midge Ure and Swedish artist Magnus Uggla. In 1983, Strasse signed to RCA in the UK, leading to the release of their third single "A Stairway to You" produced by Midge Ure in London. Following one more single "Hunger, Hunger" (1984), the band disbanded in 1985, with Russ Ryden pursuing painting and Max Abbey touring with Ultravox on their 1986 European tour. Strasse reformed in 2001 and released Transsylvanian Flower in 2005, which was well received by music critics.
