Antonio Cabán Vale, born Antonio Cabán on November 22, 1942, in Moca, Puerto Rico, was a singer and composer known for his contributions to Puerto Rican folkloric music. He earned his bachelor's degree from the University of Puerto Rico in San Juan in 1966. In the early 1970s, Cabán Vale began setting his poems to music and founded the band Taone. His compositions often featured traditional Puerto Rican instruments like the cuatro and güiro. Cabán Vale's most notable composition was "Verde Luz" (Green Light), a danza genre piece that gained widespread popularity. It was first released under his album El Topo in 1973. The song has been interpreted by numerous international singers, including Ginamaría Hidalgo and José Feliciano. Other notable albums include Las Manos Del Campo (1975), Canción Festiva (1978), and an anniversary album titled Canción De Todas Las Flores (2005). He passed away on July 24, 2024, at the age of 81.
