Born in Rome on February 5, 1977, Simone Cristicchi is an Italian songwriter, composer, musician and performer who combines pop and rap in an acoustic style. After studying history at university, he turned to comics and music, singing in a rock band before turning his attention to songwriting. He began by opening for artists such as Max Gazzè and Niccolo Fabi, and in 1997 won the song prize awarded by the SIAE (Italian Society of Authors and Publishers) for "L'uomo dei bottoni". Following the release of his first album Fabbricante di canzoni in 2005, featuring the song "Vorrei cantare como Biagio", Simone Cristicchi won the 57th Sanremo Festival in 2007 with the song "Ti regalero una rosa", and was also awarded the Critics' Prize. The same year saw the release of his second album Dall'altra parte del cancello, followed in 2010 by Grand Hotel Cristicchi and a further appearance at the festival, this time out of competition. Also known for his roles as a theater director, Cristicchi composed the soundtrack for the film Cose dell'altro mondo (2011) and recorded Album di famiglia, released in 2013. Following the release of the compilation Abbi cura di me (2019), featuring previously unreleased songs, the songwriter returns in 2024 with Dalle tenebre alla luce. A new edition of this includes the track "Quando sarai piccola".
