Li Guyi (real name 李滇惠, born 10 November 1944 in Kunming, Yunnan) is a Chinese singer whose career began after graduating from Hunan Art College in 1961 and performing with the Hunan Opera Theatre. Her breakthrough came in 1980 when she recorded "Homeland Love" (乡恋), a mellow ballad that resonated with audiences during China’s early Reform and Opening period and earned her the comparison to Teresa Teng by officials. In 1981, she released the album 凤阳花鼓, and throughout the 1980s and 1990s, Li Guyi toured domestically and abroad with the Central Philharmonic Orchestra, performing in France, Japan, and the United States. She served as head of the Chinese Light Music Group in 1986 and later as CPC Party Secretary of the Central Oriental Song and Dance Troupe in 1996, while also participating in the 6th to 9th National Committees of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference.
