British-Irish boy band Phixx, formed in 2003 from the five runners-up of the British TV show Popstars: The Rivals, consisted of Andrew Kinlochan, Chris Park, Mikey Green, Peter Smith, and Nikk Mager. In February 2003, they signed to Hyperactive Management and released their debut single "Hold On Me" in October 2003 on the Concept Records label, which charted at number 10 in the UK. Their second single "Love Revolution", released in March 2004, reached number 13. The band's third single was a cover of Duran Duran's "Wild Boys", released in June 2004, which initially faced chart disqualification but ultimately peaked at number 12 after an appeal. Following the release of "Wild Boys", Peter Smith left the band to pursue a solo career. In autumn 2004, Phixx toured South Africa and released their debut album Electrophonic Revolution, which became the best-selling album for their South African record company Sheer Music. The album featured collaborations with Lee Ryan from Blue, Brian McFadden (formerly of Westlife), Alistair Griffin, Ultra, and Theo from Liberty X. In January 2005, they released their fourth UK single "Strange Love", which entered the UK Singles Chart at number 19. Nikk Mager left the band in May 2005, and Chris Park announced the band's disbandment in November 2005. Phixx achieved four top 20 singles in the UK between 2003 and 2005 before officially breaking up in 2006.
