De Kift is a Dutch rock band formed in 1988 by guitarist Ferry Heijne and percussionist Wim ter Weele. The duo aimed to create music in their native Dutch language rather than English. Their debut single "De Kift / De Dag" was released the same year, followed by their first album, IJverzucht (1989). In 2001, De Kift received the Zilveren Harp award from the Buma Cultuur foundation. The band's discography includes notable albums such as Vlaskoorts (1999) and Koper (2001). In 2005, they compiled their previous works into the album De Kift 2005, which was released in France on the Mon slip label. The group's later releases include Hoogriet (2020) and Niemandsland (2024). The band is known for their unique approach to album packaging.
