Barbi Recanati, born in Buenos Aires on November 27, 1986, is an Argentine rock musician, producer, and feminist activist who has made significant waves in both the music and social justice scenes. Her career began with the rock band Utopians, which she co-founded in 2005. Utopians gained recognition for their punk-inspired sound, touring internationally and opening for major acts like The Cure, Guns N’ Roses, and Garbage. After releasing several albums, including Todos nuestros átomos, which was nominated for a Latin Grammy, the band dissolved in 2017 following internal controversy. Barbi Recanati then embarked on a successful solo career, debuting with the EP Teoría Espacial in 2018 and her first full-length album, Ubicación en Tiempo Real, in 2020, which earned a Latin Grammy nomination and a Gardel Award for Best Alternative Album. In 2023, she released her second album El Final de las Cosas, continuing to solidify her place in the Argentine rock scene. Alongside her music, she founded Goza Records to promote female and LGBTQ+ artists and has become a prominent voice in feminist activism, sharing her insights through public talks, her book, and her popular podcast Mostras del Rock.
