Matthew Jonathan Darey, born November 29, 1968 in Leicester, England, is an English trance music producer and performer who initially released music under the name Lost Tribe. Early works included the 1997 EP The Distant Voices, establishing his presence in the electronic music scene. In 1999, the single "Gamemaster" entered the UK Singles Chart at number 24. Throughout the early 2000s he released several EPs such as Voice of an Angel (2004) and Point Zero (2005), and collaborated with artists including Marcella Woods on "Beautiful" (2002) and Tiff Lacey on "Always" (2006). In 2005, he launched the show Nocturnal on Digitally Imported, expanding his influence beyond recordings. His 2007 single "Beautiful Day" reached the top 25 on Billboard’s Hot Dance Music Club Play and the top 20 on the Hot Dance Airplay chart in the US. Darey has sold over two million albums and singles, appeared in the worldwide top one hundred DJs poll (peaking at number 34 in 2008), and founded the label Darey Products. In 2015 he adopted the stage name Matt Nouveau to signal a new musical direction, while continuing to host a monthly Internet radio show on Digitally Imported’s European Trance station as of 2021.
