Sonia Johnson, born in 1974 in Saint-Alexis-des-Monts, Quebec, Canada, is a Canadian singer-songwriter specializing in jazz and popular music. She began her musical journey with classical singing training at the École de musique Vincent-d'Indy in Montreal and earned a DEC concentration in classical singing in 1994. Johnson's early career involved performing as a soloist or choriste. In 2005, she founded Les Productions Sonia Johnson and released her debut album, Don't Explain. Her breakthrough came with the album Le Carré de nos amours (2010), which won a Juno Award for Jazz Vocal Album of the Year in 2012. Johnson collaborated with various musicians, including Frédéric Alarie, Luc Beaugrand, and Camil Belisle. She also released notable albums such as Triades (2012) and Chrysalis (2019). Throughout her career, Johnson has shared the stage with artists like Vic Vogel, Karen Young, Diane Tell, Jean-Pierre Ferland, and Ray Anderson.
