Clea, a British girl group, was formed in England in 2002. The original members were Chloe Morgan (née Staines), Lynsey Brown, Emma Beard, and Aimée Kearsley, who met on the television show Popstars: The Rivals. After being voted off the series, they decided to form a band with the name 'Clea' derived from the first letter of each member's name. Their initial management contract was with Upside Management, and their recording contract was with Warner offshoot 1967 Records.
The group released their debut single "Download It" in 2003, which entered the UK Singles Chart at number 21. In February 2004, they followed up with "Stuck in the Middle", reaching number 23 on the same chart. Chloe Morgan left the group in May of that year to pursue a solo career. Clea's debut album Identity Crisis was released in Russia, Eastern Europe, and certain countries in Asia. Despite moderate interest in these regions, they were dropped from 1967 Records in late 2004. The band continued independently through Upside Management, releasing the single "We Don't Have To Take Our Clothes Off" in September 2005, which reached number 35 on the UK chart. Their second album Trinity was released in July 2006. Lynsey Brown left the band later that year. Clea continued to tour Asia and Scandinavia, signing with EMI China for several tours. In November 2022, all four original members reunited for their twentieth anniversary and performed at Mighty Hoopla 2023.
