Judith Silverman, also known as Judi Silvano, born on May 8, 1951, in Philadelphia, is an American jazz singer, composer, and dancer. She studied music at Temple University, graduated in 1974, and later settled in New York City. In 1980, she met Joe Lovano, whom she married in 1984; together they founded The WinDance Ensemble. She formed her own vocal group, Voices of Juniper, in 1990, which won the Brooklyn Lager Band Search for their arrangements and original compositions. Silvano's first album as a bandleader, Dancing Voices, was released in 1992. Throughout her career, she has collaborated with notable musicians such as Kenny Werner and Bill Frisell. She has also released albums including Vocalise (1997), Songs I Wrote or Wish I Did (2000), Riding a Zephyr (2002), and Indigo Moods (2012).
