Ill Repute are an American hardcore punk band from Oxnard, California, formed in 1981. They achieved professional recognition for popularizing the "Nardcore" sound and recorded for the label Mystic Records. Their recording career began with the track “Clean Cut American Kid” (1983), featured on the compilation Rodney on the ROQ: Volume 3 (1983) alongside artists including The Vandals and The Bangles. The track received international attention after being featured on the television program Stranger Things. They released their debut studio recording, What Happens Next (1984), which included a cover of the track “Indian Reservation (The Lament of the Cherokee Reservation Indian)” (1984). In 2014, the group was inducted into the Ventura County Music Awards Hall of Fame and received a proclamation from the mayor of Port Hueneme. Their discography includes the studio recordings Transition (1989) and And Now... (1998).
