Harald Haerter, born on July 12, 1958, in Zurich, Switzerland, is a Swiss jazz guitarist. He studied at the Berklee College of Music from 1980 to 1984 with John Scofield. In 1985, Haerter founded the Intergalactic Maidenballet, with whom he toured Europe and released several albums, including Square Dance (1989) and Gulf (1994), featuring notable guest musicians. In 1994, he formed a quintet with Dewey Redman, performing over 150 concerts with artists such as Erik Truffaz and Joe Lovano. Michael Brecker invited Haerter for a European tour in 1997 following the release of Mostly Live (1996). Haerter's subsequent albums include Cosmic (2001), CatScan (2004), and CatScan II (2007), featuring collaborations with Brecker, Lovano, and Nils Petter Molvær.
