The Velveteins, an indie rock band from Edmonton, Alberta, Canada, was formed in 2014, consisting of Spencer Morphy and Addison Hiller. The group originated as a solo project by Morphy following his trip to Australia, where he was inspired by the local music scene. Morphy and Hiller's first collaborative effort, Fresh Claws EP, was released in 2014. In 2015, they produced their second release, A Hot Second with the Velveteins, which received critical acclaim and was nominated for an Edmonton Music Award. The band's debut album, Slow Wave, was released in 2017, followed by a tour across Canada and the United States. Notable singles include "Don't Yah Feel Better" (2016) and "Midnight Surf" (2017). In 2023, they released their second album Declarations of the 3am Freeway.
