Elio Revé Matos, born on June 23, 1930, in Guantánamo, Cuba, was a percussionist and composer. His early life involved various jobs due to financial struggles. Revé began his musical career in 1949 with the Orchestre Armonía (Guantanamo) and later worked with notable ensembles. In 1956, he founded Elio Revé y su Charangón, an orchestra that played genres including changüí, son cubano, salsa, bomba, and merengue. The group featured musicians like Chucho Valdés and Juan Formell. He died on July 24, 1997 following a car accident. Posthumously, his music was compiled into albums such as Changüí En La Casa De Nora (2000) and Arriba Las Manos (2007). The orchestra continued under his son Elito Revé, celebrating its 45th anniversary with a concert featuring prominent guests.
