Vidya Iyer, known professionally as Vidya Vox, was born on September 26, 1990, in Chennai, India. She began her musical journey learning Carnatic music under D.K. Nagarajan. Her breakthrough came with her first mashup video on YouTube in 2015, gaining attention from figures like Shah Rukh Khan and Diplo. Her early releases include mashups like “Ellie Goulding: Love Me Like You Do | Hosanna” and “Major Lazer : Lean On | Jind Mahi”. Vox released her first EP, Kuthu Fire, in 2017, followed by Mad Dreams in 2019. Notable singles include “Be Free (Pallivaalu Bhadravattakam)” and “Thalaivi”. She has performed at venues such as the White House and Webster Hall, and festivals including Des Arts in Reunion Island. She also performed for INK Women and held a separate performance in Suriname.
