Industry, an electronic music group from the United States of America, was formed in 1978. The band consisted of Andrew Geyer on guitar and sound engineering, Mercury Caronia on drums, and Seán Kelly as the vocalist. Initially known as Industrial Complex, they released two experimental electronic EPs before Andrew Geyer left the group in 1981. Brian Unger and Rudy Perrone joined on guitars and bass respectively, with Jon Carin taking over as lead vocalist. The band signed to Capitol Records and shifted their sound towards pop/rock with synthetic elements. Their breakthrough came with the single "State of the Nation", which gained traction in European charts between 1983 and 1984, followed by another notable release, "Still of the Night". Industry released their commercial album Stranger to Stranger in August 1983. After disbanding in late 1984, Jon Carin pursued a successful career as a studio and live musician with Pink Floyd. Mercury Caronia and Rudy Perrone returned to Cathedral, a progressive rock band they had previously played with before Industry.
