Josh G. Abrahams, known professionally as Josh Abrahams, was born in 1968 in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia and is a bass guitarist and electronic artist. He began his musical career in the early 1990s with the covers band Havana Moon. In 1990, he formed the techno group Future Sound of Melbourne (FSOM) with Davide Carbone and Steve Robbins, releasing several singles and EPs on labels such as Shock Records and Two Thumbs Records. FSOM won the ARIA Award for Best Dance Release in 1996 for their album Chapter One. Josh Abrahams left FSOM in 1995 to pursue a solo career, signing with Carl Cox's label Ultimatum and releasing his debut album The Satyricon in 1996. His second studio album, 1998's Sweet Distorted Holiday, included the single "Addicted to Bass" featuring Amiel Daemion, which peaked at number 15 on the ARIA singles chart in February 1999. Josh Abrahams collaborated with Baz Luhrmann on the soundtrack for Moulin Rouge and co-produced tracks for Luhrmann's album Something for Everybody, including the UK Number 1 single "Everybody's Free (To Wear Sunscreen)". In 2001, Josh Abrahams adopted the stage name Puretone and released the international hit "Addicted to Bass", which peaked at number 2 on the UK Singles Chart. The single was also included in his 2002 album Stuck in a Groove. He composed music for various films, television commercials, and theatrical productions, including One Last Ride and the global Tourism Australia advertising campaign. In 2009, Josh Abrahams reunited with Davide Carbone to form the music production house s:amplify.
