Shimshon "Shimi" Tavori, born February 9, 1953, in Ness Ziona, Israel, is a singer of Yemenite-Jewish descent. He started his career performing at nightclubs in Ramla and recorded his first song, "Helena," after completing his service in the Israel Defense Forces. His breakthrough came when David Halfon introduced him to Uzi Hitman, leading to Tavori's debut album Chipasti Shirim La'Tzet La'Olam (1976), which included the hit "Eyn Lee Ahavah." He won first place at the Middle Eastern Singing Festival with "Shechora Ve'Nava" and placed second with "Kinor David." In 1982, Tavori performed in New York City. His notable songs include collaborations with Avihu Medina such as "Shabhi Yerushalayim" and "Al Tashliheini Le'et Zikna." He represented Israel at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1993 with "Chai Et Ma'She Yesh."
