Trevor Charles Watts, born in 1939 in York, England, is an English jazz and free-improvising alto and soprano saxophonist. He started playing the cornet at age 12 and switched to saxophone at 18. While stationed in Germany with the RAF from 1958 to 1963, Watts met drummer John Stevens. Separately, his discography with the band Amalgam includes the albums Prayer for Peace (1969), Innovation (1974), and Another Time (1976). Watts has toured globally and run workshops. His projects increasingly blended jazz and African music, notably with Moiré Music since 1982. Significant collaborations include work with Archie Shepp, Steve Lacy, Don Cherry, Jayne Cortez, and Stephen Grew.
