The Langley Schools Music Project was a collection of recordings of children's choruses singing pop hits by the Beach Boys, Paul McCartney, David Bowie, and others, initiated in 1976-1977 by Canadian music teacher Hans Fenger with students from four elementary schools in the Langley School District, British Columbia. Initially released as two LPs in 1976 and 1977, these recordings remained largely unknown until Brian Linds, a Victoria record collector, discovered them in 2000. After being rejected by ten labels, the compilation Innocence & Despair was released by Bar/None Records in 2001, gaining significant international attention and becoming a cult hit. The album featured notable covers such as "Space Oddity" and received praise from various artists, including David Bowie. The project's influence extended to film and television, with tracks appearing in movies like Catfish in 2010.
