The duo announced their partnership in late March 2016, announcing a joint venture with Def Jam Recordings, GOOD Music, and ARTium Recordings. Their debut studio album, TWENTY88, was released on April 1 2016; it peaked at number five on the Billboard 200 and topped the Billboard Digital Albums, Top R&B/Hip‑Hop Albums, Rap Albums, and R&B Albums charts. The album included the singles "Selfish" and "On the Way", and featured guest appearances from K‑Ci & JoJo and producer Detail. Production credits included Key Wane, Detail, Tommy Brown, Cam O'bi, and others, blending 1990s R&B, 1970s experimental rock, and contemporary trap elements.
