Salena Jones, born Joan Elizabeth Shaw on January 29, 1938 in Newport News, Virginia, is an American jazz singer. She began performing at age 15, winning a talent contest at New York's Apollo Theater and securing her first recording contract as Joan Shaw. Her debut single was "He Knows How to Hucklebuck", released in 1949. Throughout the 1950s, she recorded for various labels including MGM and Coral. In the mid-1960s, facing challenges in the US, Joan Shaw reinvented herself as Salena Jones and moved to Europe, where she gained significant success. Notable albums include Recital at the Festival the Golden Orpheus '73 (1973) and Salena Jones Sings Jobim with the Jobims (1994). She has recorded over 40 albums, covering nearly 500 songs, and sold over 500,000 albums worldwide.
