Klopjag, a South African Afrikaans folk-rock band, was formed in Pretoria, Gauteng in 2002 by founding members John-Henry Opperman, Marie-Louise Diedericks, Salmon de Jager and Dawie de Jager. The group played their first show on February 13, 2002, which led to the release of their debut album 13/02 later that year. Their second album, 15de Laan, followed in 2004, with subsequent releases including Album 3 (2005), 5 (2007), and Musiek vir die Agtergrond (2008). The band's music has been well-received by critics for its lyrical storytelling themes. Klopjag was nominated for a "Geraas" Music Award in 2003 for their debut album, and Musiek vir die Agtergrond was nominated for a South African Music Award (SAMA) in 2009. The band has performed at major festivals such as Aardklop and KKNK, and their music videos have been featured on prominent South African music channels like DStv and MK89.
