Natalia Gutman, born on November 14, 1942, in Kazan, was a Russian cellist. She began her musical education with her grandfather, Anísim Berlin, and later studied under Galina Kozolúpova. Her career took off after winning the ARD International Music Competition in Munich in 1967. Gutman performed extensively with major orchestras worldwide, including the Vienna Philharmonic, Berlin Philharmonic, and London Symphony Orchestra. She collaborated with notable conductors such as Wolfgang Sawallisch, Riccardo Muti, and Claudio Abbado. Her repertoire included works by Bach and Shostakovich, and she premiered contemporary pieces like Alfred Schnittke's Sonata and Concerto No. 1. Gutman also founded the International Music Festival Tegernsee in 1990. She received numerous awards, including the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany and the State Prize of the Russian Federation.
