Syreeta Wright (de soltera Rita Wright, 1946-2004) pasó de secretaria a cantante para el sello Tamla Motown, grabando su primer sencillo "I Can't Give Back The Love I Feel for You" en 1967 antes de conocer a Stevie Wonder, con quien se casó en 1970. Su relación sólo duró un año y medio, pero su colaboración musical continuó en los álbumes del otro. Ella le escribió "Signed, Sealed, Delivered (I'm Yours)" (1970) y "If You Really Love Me " (1971), y él produjo su primer álbum, Syreeta (1972), que incluía el dueto "To Know You Is To Love You". Su siguiente álbum, Stevie Wonder Presents Syreeta (1974), presentaba sus suaves voces, mientras que Rich Love, Poor Love (1977) se grabó con el antiguo cantante de los Spinners, G. C. Cameron, y el éxito"Harmour Love " procedía del álbum One to One, publicado ese mismo año. Syreeta colaboró después con Billy Preston en el dueto "With You I'm Born Again", la banda sonora de la película Fast Break y el álbum Billy Preston and Syreeta (1981). En 1983, Jermaine Jackson produjo su último álbum, The Spell. Tras retirarse durante varios años, Syreeta Wright regresó con el reparto de Jesucristo Superstar de 1993 a 1995. Murió de insuficiencia cardiaca el 6 de julio de 2004 a consecuencia de un cáncer de mama y huesos.
