Austin Brose, Alec Castillo, Shaun Couture, Patton Magee, Don Merrill y Conor Mikita formaron The Nude Party como estudiantes universitarios en la Appalachian State University en 2012. Con sede en Boone, Carolina del Norte, la banda actuó localmente durante varios años antes de graduarse y lanzar un EP de debut, Hot Tub, en 2016. Oakley Munson, batería de los Black Lips, produjo el EP y retomó ese papel varios años después para el álbum debut de The Nude Party. Grabado después de que el grupo firmara con New West Records, el álbum autotitulado fue lanzado en julio de 2018. The Nude Party promocionó su lanzamiento con una serie de shows de alto perfil, incluidas fechas de apertura para Arctic Monkeys y Jack White.
