Desaparecidos fue un grupo estadounidense de punk rock de Omaha, Nebraska. Formado en 2001, el grupo contaba con Conor Oberst a la voz y la guitarra, junto con varios músicos de Bright Eyes y otros amigos de Oberst. El grupo publicó su primer EP The Happiest Place on Earth en octubre de 2001. Publicaron su primer álbum Read Music/Speak Spanish en febrero de 2002 a través de Saddle Creek Records. A pesar de la controversia inicial sobre el momento de su lanzamiento, el álbum ganó seguidores de culto y llevó a giras como teloneros de artistas como Jimmy Eat World y Motion City Soundtrack. Desaparecidos entró en pausa a finales de 2002 debido a los crecientes compromisos de Oberst con Bright Eyes. La banda se reunió en 2010 para un único concierto y más tarde se embarcó en giras, lanzando nuevo material incluyendo "MariKKKopa" y "Backsell". En febrero de 2015, firmaron con Epitaph Records y lanzaron su segundo álbum Payola en junio. La gira final de la banda se interrumpió en octubre de 2015 debido a problemas de salud de Conor Oberst. Desde entonces, Desaparecidos no ha realizado giras ni ha publicado nueva música. Lanzamientos notables incluyen la edición del 20 aniversario de Read Music/Speak Spanish y un álbum en directo Live at Shea Stadium, ambos publicados en 2022.
