The Dawn, una banda de rock filipina, se formó en 1985. La formación original incluía a Teddy Diaz a la voz y las guitarras, JB Leonor a la batería y Clay Luna al bajo; Jett Pangan se presentó más tarde a una audición y fue seleccionada como voz principal. Su éxito llegó con la maqueta "Enveloped Ideas", que encabezó las listas de éxitos de la emisora de radio DWXB 102.7 en 1986. El grupo firmó con OctoArts International y publicó su álbum debut homónimo, The Dawn (1987), al que siguió I Stand with You (1988). Díaz murió apuñalado en 1988. A pesar de esta pérdida, la banda continuó, publicando álbumes como Beyond the Bend (1989) y Puno't Dulo (1994). El Amanecer se disolvió en 1995, pero se reunió para un único concierto en 1997, antes de volver a reunirse oficialmente en 1999. Publicaron Prodigal Sun (2001), seguido de Harapin (2004) y el álbum recopilatorio The Story of The Dawn: The Ultimate OPM Collection (2001).
