Antiguo líder y guitarrista de The Equals, el guyanés Eddy Grant hizo carrera en los años ochenta en el reggae con fuerte sabor pop. Autor de los éxitos "Walking on Sunshine" (1979), "Do You Feel My Love" (1980), "Electric Avenue" (1984) y el himno contra el apartheid "Gimme Hope Jo'anna" (1988), Eddy Grant vivió entonces de su reputación y publicó una serie de álbumes de lo mejor.
