Los mimados de la prensa británica desde el momento en que se formaron en Londres a principios de la década de 2010, Wolf Alice fueron la creación de la cantante Ellie Rowsell. Comenzó como un trío acústico con Sadie Cleary (bajo) y Joff Oddie (guitarra), antes de tomar una clara dirección de rock alternativo reforzando la sección rítmica con la llegada de Joel Amey en 2012. Tras publicar dos EP, Blush (2013) y Creature Songs (2014), la banda londinense se tomó su tiempo para perfeccionar sus pegadizas melodías rock y dar forma a su álbum debut My Love Is Cool (2015). El álbum recibió críticas muy favorables en la prensa y la radio, y fue nominado a varios premios (Mercury Prize, Brit Awards, Grammy Awards), pero no logró alzarse con ningún trofeo. Tras escribir una canción para el remake de la película Cazafantasmas, Wolf Alice se trasladó a Los Ángeles para grabar su segundo álbum Visions of a Life (2017) con el productor Justin Meldal-Johnson. A principios de 2021, la banda desveló un nuevo tema, titulado 'The Last Man on Earth', y al mismo tiempo anunció el inminente lanzamiento de Blue Weekend, su tercer álbum, producido por Markus Dravs y publicado en junio de 2021. Tan aclamado como su predecesor, fue nominado al Mercury Prize y seguido en octubre por una edición ampliada, Blue Weekend Tour Deluxe, que incluía cuatro temas en directo y una versión de 'Bobby', de Alex G. En 2022, Wolf Alice ganaron el Brit Award al grupo del año y grabaron una nueva versión, más suave, de 'The Last Man on Earth', incluida en el EP de versiones en forma de nana, Blue Lullaby. Tras realizar una gira con Harry Styles, la banda firmó con Columbia Records y grabó un cuarto álbum, The Clearing (2025), que difería de sus predecesores pero que alcanzó el n.º 1 en su lanzamiento.
