Tambour Battant apareció por primera vez en la escena musical francesa en 2008 con su álbum The Missing Link, una mezcla de rap (bilingüe) y electro. Sus enérgicas actuaciones en directo les convirtieron en uno de los descubrimientos del festival Printemps de Bourges en 2009. Unos meses más tarde publicaron Chip Jockey.
