El cantante jamaicano Omar Samuel Pasley, más conocido por su nombre artístico OMI, nació el 3 de septiembre de 1986 en la parroquia de May Pen. Su primer sencillo "Standing On All Threes" se publicó en 2012, mientras que OMI compuso su futuro éxito "Cheerleader " en 2008 y también lo publicó en 2012. La canción se reeditó en 2014 como tema dance en una remezcla de Felix Jaehn. La remezcla se convirtió inicialmente en un gran éxito en Suecia, llegando a ser 5 veces disco de platino, y poco después también en las listas de éxitos de otros países europeos, como Francia, Italia y Alemania. En Estados Unidos, la canción alcanzó el primer puesto del Billboard Hot 100 en 2015, y el 16 de octubre de 2015 lanzó finalmente su primer álbum de estudio Me 4 U, que alcanzó las listas de Australia, Canadá, Francia y América. Le siguieron otros singles y colaboraciones, como "Jambo" con Takagi & Ketra y Giusy Ferreri en 2018 y "Don't Stop" con Dj.Frodo y Richie Stephens en 2022.
