Deviated Instinct es un grupo británico de crustcore y death metal de Norwich, formado en 1984 por el vocalista Julian "Leggo" Kilsby, el guitarrista Robert "Mid" Middleton, el bajista Ian Clitheroe y el batería Trevor Cockburn. Publicaron su primera maqueta Tip of the Iceberg (1985). Tras un cambio de formación, publicaron la demo Terminal Filth Stenchcore (1986), que marcó el inicio del movimiento stenchcore. En 1987, publicaron el EP Welcome to the Orgy (1987) con Peaceville Records. Le siguió su álbum de debut Rock 'n' Roll Conformity (1988). Grabaron su segundo álbum de estudio Guttural Breath (1989). También publicaron el EP Nailed (1990). Se disolvieron en 1991 tras un último concierto con Godflesh y Fudge Tunnel. Se reformaron en 2007 para actuaciones en directo y lanzaron el EP Liberty Crawls ... to the Sanctuary of Slave (2012) en Profane Existence.
