Steam fue un grupo estadounidense de música pop-rock formado en 1969. Entre sus miembros destacaban Gary DeCarlo, Dale Frashuer y Paul Leka. Steam saltó a la fama con el sencillo "Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye", que alcanzó el primer puesto de las listas de éxitos en Estados Unidos durante dos semanas en diciembre de 1969. La canción fue escrita por los músicos de estudio Gary DeCarlo (bajo el nombre de Garrett Scott), Dale Frashuer y Paul Leka, y producida por este último en los estudios Mercury Records de Nueva York. A pesar del éxito del single, en el momento de su lanzamiento no existía una banda con el nombre de Steam; rápidamente se formó un grupo de gira para apoyar el éxito. En 1970 se publicó el álbum debut con el mismo título, que incluía otros cuatro sencillos publicados ese año. " I've Gotta Make You Love Me" alcanzó el número 46 en la lista Billboard de EE.UU. y el número 44 en Canadá. Steam siguió girando en directo durante más de tres décadas, hasta su separación en 2006. "Na Na Hey Hey Kiss Him Goodbye" se convirtió en un fenómeno cultural. Gary DeCarlo falleció el 28 de junio de 2017 tras serle diagnosticado un cáncer de pulmón.
