Oliver Chesler, nacido el 20 de enero de 1970 en Nueva York, es un artista estadounidense de música electrónica que actúa bajo el nombre artístico de The Horrorist. Tras trabajar como DJ de club a mediados de los noventa, en 1996 publicó el sencillo "One Night In N.Y.C.", que consolidó su presencia en la escena underground. Al año siguiente, publicó el sencillo"Flesh Is The Fever", al que siguió el álbum de 2001 Manic Panic, que incorporaba muestras de su propio contestador automático y reflejaba la vida en las grandes ciudades; el álbum alcanzó el número 1 de la Deutsche Alternative Chart en octubre de 2004 tras una reedición en Out of Line Music. En 2003, singles como "Planet Nordcore" y "Sex Machine" ampliaron su catálogo. El álbum de 2007 Attack Decay alcanzó el número 3 en la Deutsche Alternative Chart, y los siguientes lanzamientos Joyless Pleasure (2011) y Fire Funmania (2013) continuaron su producción. A lo largo de su carrera, The Horrorist colaboró con DJs como Chris Liebing y Ricardo Villalobos, y sus temas "The Virus" y "Mission Ecstasy " se publicaron como remezclas de 12" en sellos como a45 y Robot Traxx.
