Formado en Auckland (Nueva Zelanda) en 2013, Lee Mvtthews es un dúo de drum and bass fundado por el británico Lee Mavers y el neozelandés Graham Matthews. Tanto Lee como Matthews se habían trasladado a Auckland, donde asistieron al Instituto de Música y Audio de Nueva Zelanda, y se conocieron en 2012 cuando ambos realizaban un curso de DJ en la escuela. Compartiendo intereses musicales similares, ambos comenzaron a colaborar en diferentes proyectos de la escuela. Inicialmente llamaron a su proyecto musical Joystix y empezaron a publicar música en línea en 2013. Al año siguiente, publicaron su primer sencillo, "I Got You", bajo el nombre de Lee Mvtthews para evitar confusiones con el cantante irlandés de country Lee Matthews. Lanzaron su siguiente sencillo, "Back 2 Back", en 2015, seguido de su EP debut, Silhouettes, en 2017. Varios singles siguieron en 2018 -incluyendo "Stay" con Omega Levine, "Inside Out" con Watson, "Fool" y "Let Me Go" con Embher- antes de que los Lee Mvtthews lanzaran su álbum debut, Bones, en 2019. El álbum fue un éxito y le valió al dúo el premio al Mejor Artista Electrónico en los Aotearoa Music Awards de 2020. El álbum incluía el éxito número 27 de las listas "Takeover" con NÜ, además de "If Only" e "In the Dark " con Abbey Christo. Entre 2020 y 2023, lanzaron más de una docena de singles, como "Turning Back" (2020), "Don't Say It" con Prins (2020), "Lights Out" (2021), "Thinkin' About" con ShockOne (2021), "Dice" con Rachel Leo (2022), "Far Gone" con Degs (2023) y "Talk To Me" (2023).
