"The power of poetry on the alternative scene is reawakening thanks to young and ambitious bands such as Novi Sad's Nemi Pesnik." - Nenad Pekez, Hardwired Magazine
Nemi Pesnik (in English: Mute Poet) is an alternative rock band from Novi Sad, Serbia. Well thought-out lyrics combined with energy-filled music have always been the band's creative formula, inspired by hit bands of the noughties, such as Arctic Monkeys, The Coral and Muse.
Their sound draws inspiration from "ordinary", transforming mundane experiences into art. The beauty, according to Nemi Pesnik, lies in the fact that each of us has their own, special, unusual version of an ordinary story.
The band started with public performances in late 2018 and maintained its active club scene presence in Novi Sad throughout 2019, with gigs at which they played with the likes of Ljubičice and Buč Kesidi. During 2019, Nemi pesnik published two critically-acclaimed singles, "Radna Subota" and "Samo Prijatelji" which both reached the Serbian top 10 chart of the most famous Serbian rock radio, "Beograd 202", with "Samo prijatelji" staying on the chart for over 20 weeks.
Early in 2020, the band announced the release of their first album, titled "Slobodna Volja" ("Free Will"), which came out on July 3. The lead single from the album, "Koliko si luda", debuted at 12th place of the global top 40 at Beograd 202. "Koliko si luda" later became the Top Hit of the Year 2020 on the same radio.
