Carlos Alberto Torres Vila, born on 9 November 1946 in Los Toldos, Buenos Aires, Argentina, was a folk singer. He gained prominence at the Festival de Baradero in 1969 and the Festival de Cosquín in 1970, introducing 'folclore romántico,' which blended traditional Argentine music with melodic songs. This style led to several record-breaking sales in the 1970s. His early albums include Muchacha (1970) and La Canción del Te Quiero (1971). In 1977, Torres Vila shifted fully to melodic music with releases like Consagración. His 1982 album El Retorno de Carlos Torres Vila marked his return to his signature style. Despite a hiatus in the 1990s, he continued performing and released several albums post-2000, including Love Pass Filter (2003) and Los Esenciales (2008). Torres Vila passed away on 16 July 2010.
