Sivan Langer, hailing from Tel Aviv, Israel, and occasionally operating out of LA, is an artist who draws inspiration from various realms: art, nature, and cinema, to name a few. He’s a fan of anything that can tell a captivating story, and he’s utilized those many inspirations to develop a musical palette that is as sophisticated as it is diverse.
Sivan’s musical influences traverse genres, ranging from classic and jazz to world music. Presently, his musical endeavours predominantly revolve around classic rock as well as art rock, in a style reminiscent of the Rolling Stones and the Velvet Underground.
Sivan’s journey into the world of music took an intriguing path. Initially drawn to playing the drums, fate led him to the guitar when in his quest to make a band with his friend, his friend had already taken up the drumming role. The rest as they say is history, and immersed in the sounds of iconic bands like Guns N’ Roses and Nirvana, Sivan honed his skills by playing the popular rock songs of that era.
While initially influenced by the raw energy of Nirvana and the grunge scene, Langer’s musical tastes expanded to encompass jazz, experimental rock, and lo-fi bands like Pavement and Guided By Voices. It was a journey that led him to appreciate the conceptual ideas behind the music as much as their sonic manifestations, leading to an extended musical palette that was rewarded with placements on Apple Music New in Rock playlists as well as Spotify’s “Post Grunge Society.”
When the COVID-19 pandemic struck, Sivan felt a burning desire to complete an album, unaware of the arduous path that awaited him. Overcoming unforeseen challenges, he persevered, albeit at a slower pace. Even with limited resources, Langer found ways to persevere and even excel, mixing the album himself after meticulously building a home studio, assembling acoustic panels and engaging in carpentry work.
Today, Sivan Langer stands on the brink of releasing his album “Rough Mix”. As he continues down the winding path of a musician infatuated with his craft, the culmination of his musical journey is marked by this labour of love and determination, borne out of sheer will and appreciation for the arts.
Sivan’s fusion of genres, blending classic rock, punk, and even elements of jazz, bears witness to an artist unafraid to explore and transcend boundaries. With each note and
