Alpha Team is an American techno/eurodance music project formed in the early 1990s by Andy Adams (also known as DJ Attack) and Mystery (pseudonym of Dane Roewade). The duo is best known for the single "Speed", released in 1992 on the Canadian-based Hi-Bias Records label. The track is a techno-rave cover of the theme from the Japanese cartoon Speed Racer, broadcast in its English-language version in the USA in the 1960s. " Speed" combines vocal samples from the cartoon with fast, rhythmic dance production in the style of early-90s commercial techno. The track enjoyed notable success in North American clubs, reaching the 1ʳᵉ spot on the Billboard Hot Dance Maxi-Singles Sales in 1993 (#74 on the Billboard Hot 100, #16 in Australia). The track became a cult hit in the rave and dance scenes, and appeared on many dance compilations of the time. Alpha Team did not enjoy any further major commercial success, and remains an emblematic "one-hit wonder" project of the humorous, cartoonish techno-pop era of the 1990s.
