Santiago Auserón Marruedo, also known by the pseudonym Juan Perro, is a Spanish singer, lyricist, and philosopher born on July 25, 1954, in Zaragoza. He earned a doctorate in philosophy from the Complutense University of Madrid in 2015. In 1979, Auserón formed the group Radio Futura, which performed during the Movida Madrileña movement. The ensemble released studio albums including Música moderna (1980), La Ley del desierto / La Ley del mar (1984), and Veneno en la piel (1990). Following the group becoming inactive in 1992, he began a solo career as Juan Perro, blending son cubano, jazz, and rock. His solo recordings include Raíces al viento (1995), La Huella sonora (1997), and Libertad (2022). Auserón has collaborated with musicians such as Compay Segundo and Kiko Veneno. He received the Premio Nacional de las Músicas Actuales in 2011 and the Medalla de Oro al Mérito en las Bellas Artes in 2022.
