Kola Aina is a Nigerian Afro-fusion and rap artist from Kaduna State.
While growing up in Southern Kaduna he was exposed to rap music at an early age and was largely
influenced by famous American rappers Kendrick Lamar, J. Cole, Drake and Eminem.
For a long time,
he took rapping as a hobby but decided to pursue a
professional career in music after high school.
While in university, he struggled with finding support, anxiety, recognition, confidence and finances as he was a complete stranger to the music industry propounded with several failed attempts
to be signed by a major label which propelled him to chase his goals independently. After some experience producing, making his own beats and engineering himself, he was intrigued
by the dynamic nature of afrobeats and was influenced by the alternative scene,
drawing inspirations from Burna Boy and alte pioneers, Odunsi(the Engine) and Cruel Santino .
The different sounds, elements and artists that influenced him are evident in his rap-niched Afrofusion music,
displaying his lyrical prowess, storytelling, feelings and moods highlighted with an alternative, genre-fusing and urban style of production.
