Helen Sung, born in Houston, Texas, is an American jazz pianist. She attended Houston's High School for the Performing and Visual Arts and earned degrees in classical piano performance at the University of Texas at Austin, where she discovered jazz music. Helen Sung graduated from the Thelonious Monk Institute of Jazz Performance, performing at venues like the Kennedy Center and touring with Herbie Hancock and Wayne Shorter. Helen Sung won the Mary Lou Williams Jazz Piano Competition in 2007 and released several albums, including Push (2003), Helenistique (2006), and Anthem for a New Day (2014). She has performed at festivals such as the Monterey Jazz Festival and collaborated with artists like Clark Terry, Ron Carter, and Terri Lyne Carrington. Helen Sung also produced a jazz residency program for underserved students and joined Berklee College of Music as an Associate Piano Professor in 2011.
