Undercover, a British dance music group, were formed in 1991. The band consisted of John Matthews on vocals, Jon Jules on bass guitar, and Steve Mac on keyboards. Their breakthrough came with the release of their debut single "Baker Street", a cover version of Gerry Rafferty's 1978 hit, which reached number two on the UK Singles Chart in September 1992. This success was followed by another top five hit, "Never Let Her Slip Away" (a cover of Andrew Gold's 1978 track), which peaked at number five and stayed in the charts for 11 weeks. Their debut album Check Out the Groove was released later that year, reaching number 26 on the UK Albums Chart. Subsequent singles included "I Wanna Stay with You" (a cover of the Gallagher and Lyle song) and "Lovesick", both from 1993, which charted at number 28 and number 62, respectively. In 1994, Undercover released their second album Ain't No Stopping Us, along with the single "Best Friend". The group disbanded in 2004.
