Lobo y Melón was a Mexican son and salsa group formed in 1958 in Acapulco. The ensemble was led by percussionist Carlos Daniel "Lobo" Navarro and singer Luis Ángel Silva, known as “Melón”. They released their debut LP, Lobo y Melón, in June 1959, which featured the songs “No hay negocio” and “Amalia Batista”. By 1961, the group achieved international recognition through performances in Los Angeles and a recording contract with producer Chico Sesma. The band toured New York and Chicago in 1964 and performed alongside prominent artists such as Tito Puente and Machito. Lobo y Melón disbanded in 1971 due to internal conflicts. Following the group's dissolution, Silva joined Fania Records and collaborated with Johnny Pacheco on the albums Llegó Melón and Flying High. Navarro continued to perform and was the subject of a story in the book Historias conversadas.
